Nor’wester accompanied by rain and gusty wind swept across different parts of the country, including the capital, on Thursday.

Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) predicted rain in several parts of the country after days of a mild heat wave. Accordingly, dusty winds swept the capital before the rain.

BMD said that there is a possibility of rain or thundershower with gusty wind temporarily in Rajshahi, Rangpur, Dhaka, Khulna, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions in the next 24 hours.

Drizzling started in Dhaka around 4:00pm. The sky turned dark and speedy winds blew. Dust spread all over because of high-velocity wind.

The storm swept through Satkhira, Mymensingh, Gazipur and several other districts of the country.

In the last 24 hours, the country’s highest temperature of 38.1 degrees Celsius was recorded in Cox’s Bazar, which was 37.7 degrees in Bandarban on Wednesday.

Besides, the temperature in Dhaka was 35.2 degrees on Wednesday and today it increased by 2 degrees to 37.5 degrees, in Rajshahi it was 34.5 degrees, today it increased by 2 degrees to 36 degrees, in Rangpur it was 34.4 degrees, today it was 34.8 degrees, in Mymensingh it was 34 degrees, today it increased by 1 degree to 35, Sylhet was 35.2, today 35.4, Chittagong was 35.8, today increased by 1 degree to 36.4, Khulna was 35.2, today increased by 1 degree to 36.5 and Barisal was 35.3, today 35.6 degrees Celsius was recorded.

According to the BMD, the extension of the low pressure is located in West Bengal and surrounding areas.

In the forecast for the next 24 hours, it is said there is a possibility of rain or thundershower with gusty wind temporarily in Rajshahi, Rangpur, Dhaka, Khulna, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions.

Along with that, there may be scattered hailstorms at some places. Apart from this, the weather across the country may remain mainly dry with partly cloudy sky at other places.

A mild heat wave was sweeping Rajshahi, Pabna, Patuakhali and Bhola districts along with Dhaka, Chattogram and Khulna divisions.

Day temperatures may remain almost unchanged across the country and night temperatures may increase slightly.
