Patuakhali-4 constituency has weared festive mood on the last day of nominations for the 12th National Assembly elections with boats, JPA (A), Jasad (INU) and independent candidates' motorcycles, processions and showdowns.

There have been allegations of breaking the rules of electoral conduct by blocking roads in the manner of doa milad without any permission for road meetings, campaigning to gain support for the candidate.

On the last day of filing nominations, the workers-supporters of the candidates clashed, chased and chased, and two supporters of the candidate who participated in the election as an independent candidate after being deprived of the nomination of Awami League, were injured.

Injured Kalapara Upazila Awami League Information and Research Secretary Monirul Islam and Jubo League Health and Environment Secretary Wasim Talukdar have been admitted to Kalapara Hospital for treatment. The clash took place in the godown area of Kalapara municipality around 9:30 am on Thursday.

On receiving the news, Kalapara UNO, Assistant Retaining Officer Jahangir Hossain and Kalapara Police Station OC Ali Ahmed visited the injured at the hospital.

Kalapara Police Station OC Ali Ahmed said that additional police have been deployed in the city due to the filing of nomination papers in the election. So far no party has lodged a complaint with the police.

As of writing this report, Principal Md. Mohibbur Rahman, independent candidate Md. Mahbubur Rahman, Brigadier General (retd.) Md. Habibur Rahman, Abdullah Al Islam Liton and Jasad (INU) Nominated candidate Journalist Biswas Shihab Parvez Mithu has filed nomination papers to assistant returning officer.

Assistant Returning Officer Kalapara UNO Md. Jahangir Hossain said that 5 candidates including AwamiLeague, Jasad (INU) and Independent have filed nomination papers in his office. He did not give an opportunity to ask questions about taking action related to violation of electoral conduct rules.

Apart from this, two candidates including JP (A) nominated candidate AB Mannan and another candidate have filed their nomination papers in Patuakhali-4 seat at District Returning Officer office.
