Nomination of JP candidate in Manirampur declared valid

The Election Commission (EC) has declared the nomination of Jatiya Party (JP) candidate M.A. Halim valid for the Manirampur constituency in Jessore in the 13th National Parliament election. The decision on the validity of his nomination was announced on Sunday afternoon after an appeal hearing led by the Chief Election Commissioner.
The scrutiny of the nomination papers of the appealed candidates began at the office of the Chief Election Commissioner in the capital at 11 am on Sunday. After the hearing, the Election Commission declared MA Halim's nomination papers valid at around 5 pm. With this decision, there is no longer any legal obstacle to the Jatiya Party's participation in the Manirampur constituency.
Jatiya Party Secretary General Barrister Shamim Haider Patwary was present with candidate MA Halim when the nomination was declared valid. He assisted the candidate in the appeal hearing and overall supervision of the matter. MA Halim himself confirmed the matter.
According to Election Commission sources, after the announcement of the schedule for the 13th National Parliament election, MA Halim submitted his nomination papers to Manirampur Upazila Executive Officer and Assistant Returning Officer Samrat Hossain on December 29, 2025. Although the nomination papers were initially accepted, on January 3 of this year, Jessore District Returning Officer and Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Ashek Hasan declared his candidacy cancelled after scrutiny.
In the decision to cancel his nomination, MA Halim appealed to the Chief Election Commissioner's office on January 6. In view of the appeal, the Election Commission held a hearing on Sunday and declared his nomination valid after reviewing the necessary documents and arguments.
Reacting to the declaration of the nomination as valid, MA Halim said that the Election Commission's decision is a reflection of justice. He expressed optimism and said that he will actively participate in the elections to establish the people's right to vote and strengthen democracy.
