No greater terrorist group than Awami League: Shafiqur Rahman

Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman has labelled the Awami League as Bangladesh's extremist and terrorist party, saying that there has never been a greater terrorist group than them.
He said, “Awami League formed a hammer-helmet gang under the banner of Chhatra League. Leaders like Obaidul Quader took pride in their arrogance and wrongdoing. They violated human rights and did not consider people as human beings. They must face the consequences of every wrongdoing.”
Shafiqur Rahman made these remarks at the 2024 Annual Member (Rukn) Conference of Jamaat-e-Islami ‘s Dhaka Metropolitan North unit at Bangladesh–China Friendship Exhibition Center in the capital on Sunday morning.
Addressing as the chief guest, he said that Awami League has the right to fair justice and must be held accountable under the laws they created, specifically regarding the July-August killings.
The Jamaat Ameer also pledged that his party will not seek revenge, but will ensure justice for every individual who has suffered oppression. “After the uprising, Jamaat workers did not engage in extortion or land grabbing; instead, they stood by the people,” he said.
Emphasising the need for national unity, Shafiqur Rahman called for everyone, including civil society and journalists, to work together to build a nation free from inequality and corruption.
