Leaders of the New York chapter of the Bangladesh Awami League and Jubo League clarified during a discussion meeting in the Bronx that no legal case has been filed, nor has anyone been arrested, regarding the recent protest involving former interim government chief adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus at John F. Kennedy (JFK) International Airport.

Speaking at a special discussion meeting held on Wednesday evening (October 21) at the Al-Aqsa Party Hall in the Bronx, New York, NY Metropolitan Awami League General Secretary Imdad Chowdhury and US Jubo League General Secretary Mizanur Rahman Chowdhury (Mizan Chowdhury) refuted online reports regarding police detentions.

The event was organized under the presidency of Awami League leader Abdur Rahman Badsha to mark the home-return movement of Sheikh Hasina. Former Foreign Minister Prof. Dr. A.K. Abdul Momen attended as the chief guest, with Awami League Organizational Secretary Shafiul Alam Chowdhury Nadel, Freedom Fighter Dr. Pradip Kar, US Bangladesh Foundation President Abdul Kader Mia, Sakhawat Ali of the New York Chapter of Sheikh Mujib Parishad, former US Jubo League President Misbah Ahmed, and former Secretary Farid Alam addressing the session as guests.

Addressing the gathering, Imdad Chowdhury and Mizan Chowdhury said,  expatriate protesters had expressed their grievances within peaceful, democratic limits at JFK Airport on October 12, following public anger surrounding administrative actions, law enforcement detentions, and political unrest during Dr. Yunus's tenure as chief adviser.

The speakers clarified that rumor-mongering on social media claiming US police had arrested Awami League leaders at JFK Airport was baseless. They stated that no lawsuits or police cases were filed in connection with the airport encounter, confirming that all participants operated within legal parameters without facing detention or legal charges.
