Newly -appointed principal Moniruzzaman Jewel's explanation on fake certificate controversy

Md. Ramzan Ali, Jaldhaka (Nilphamari

There has been a lot of discussion and criticism on social media recently surrounding Moniruzzaman Jewel, the newly appointed principal of Ideal College in Jaldhaka, Nilphamari. The allegations that his "computer training certificate is fake" have gone beyond the local area and have created widespread practice in the political arena.

Moniruzzaman Jewel is a member of the central working committee of the Bangladesh Workers' Welfare Federation and Nilphamari district president.

After various media outlets recently published news titled "Fake teachers whose salaries must be returned," he protested the allegations with a long explanatory post on his official Facebook page.

In the post on Monday (December 8), he wrote, "A Facebook post about me has surfaced; it was made with the intention of humiliating and misleading me without knowing the real facts."

He said that in 2017, while he was absconding in a ‘false case’ filed by the Awami League government, an audit team from the Ministry of Education came to the college. As part of the audit process, the certificates of all teachers and employees were verified. But due to the case, he could not be present at the college at that time, and as a result, his certificate was not displayed.

In this incident, the ministry sent him and a few others a show-cause notice. In his explanation, he wrote, “The college submitted a response to the board sheet by attaching all the original certificates. After going to the ministry on the scheduled date and displaying the original documents, they assured to settle the matter through a resolution and provided a receipt copy. This is a completely official process.”

He also said that so far they have not received any final notice. Once he receives the notice, he will display the necessary documents along with the original certificate and expressed hope that the matter will be resolved naturally.

Moniruzzaman Jewel claimed that no irregularities were found with his certificate in another audit by the ministry in 2005.

Finally, he called on everyone to come to the college and find out the matter on the spot and said, “The allegations spread on social media are nothing but deliberate confusion.”
