NCP protest march demanding trial, ban on Awami League in Joypurhat

Joypurhat Correspondent

A protest march and rally were held in Joypurhat on  Satturday organized by the National Citizens' Party ( NCP.) demanding the trial and political ban of the Awami League for alleged involvement in genocide.

The procession commenced from Abul Kashem Maidan and traversed Batar Mor before concluding at Pachur Mor, where a brief but resolute protest rally took place.

Speakers at the rally accused the Awami League of utilizing state power over the past 15 years to perpetrate enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, and political repression, thereby establishing a fascist regime. They called for the immediate political banning of the party and a trial in accordance with international standards.

Among the speakers were Omar Ali Babu, district organizer of the National Citizens' Party; Ashraful Islam; Borhan Uddin, representative of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement; and several local leaders. They urged all conscious citizens to unite and join the movement to restore democracy and establish people's rights.

This demonstration reflects the ongoing political tensions and demands for accountability in Bangladesh's political landscape.
