National Legal Aid Day observed in Rangamati

On the occasion of National Legal Aid Day, a rally and discussion meeting was held in Rangamati with the theme 'Fulfillment of Bangabandhu's dream - Opening the door to free legal services'.

On Friday (April 28) morning, a colourful rally was brought out by Rangamati District Legal Aid Committee to mark the day.

The rally started from the Rangamati District and Sessions Judge premises and circled the main main road of the city and ended at the court premises. A discussion meeting was held later. Before this, the program was auspiciously started by flying balloons and doves of peace.

In the meeting, District and Sessions Judge of Sini, Sahidul Islam gave a brief overview of the legal aid program and said that the government has launched the legal aid organization or legal aid organization in our country like the developed world so that the helpless people of can get legal assistance free of cost.

We all will work with the goal of accelerating the activities of the District Legal Aid Committee through joint efforts so that the helpless poor common people of the district get all the legal benefits.

He urged the panel lawyers to come forward to speed up legal aid activities in Rangamati. He also requested the financially well-off lawyers to provide free legal services to the needy people.

Presided over by Rangamati Senior District and Sessions Judge Sahidul Islam and moderated by District Legal Aid Senior Assistant Judge Md. Junaid, President of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Food Ministry and local MP Dipankar Talukder MP was present as the chief guest.

Rangamati Hill District Council Chairman Angsuiproo Chowdhury, Additional District Commissioner Saiful Islam, Honorable Judge District and Sessions Judge AM Ismail Hossain of Women and Child Torture Tribunal, learned Chief Judicial Magistrate Md Abu Hanif, Additional Superintendent of Police Imran Hossain, Rangamati District Lawyers Association President Rafiqul Islam and general secretary Abdul Ghaffar Munna, learned judges of all levels of the court, officials-employees, learned panel lawyers, beneficiaries of legal aid were present.

Senior District Session and Judge Sahidul Islam handed over the crest to Advocate Shafiul Alam Mia as he was selected as the best panel lawyer of Legal Aid at the end of the discussion meeting.
