Nahida Begum appointed Director of Student Counselling at CoU

Nahida Begum, Associate Professor of the Department of Bangla at Comilla University (CoU), has been appointed as the Director of the university's Student Counselling and Guidance Office.
The appointment was made following a Syndicate decision on January 6, 2026.
Born in Char Bhairabi village under Haimchar upazila in Chandpur district, Nahida Begum is the daughter of the late Abdul Majid Dewan and the late Iyaron Nesa.
She completed her BA (Honours) in Bangla in 2005 and MA in 2006 from Jahangirnagar University. She later earned her PhD from the same university under the supervision of Professor Dr. Aniruddha Kahali, with a dissertation titled "Humayun Ahmeder Upanyas: Madhyabitta Jiban" (The Novels of Humayun Ahmed: Middle-Class Life).
Nahida Begum began her academic career as a lecturer and departmental head at Shaheed Police Smriti College, serving from August 2008 to March 2015. She joined Comilla University as a Lecturer in Bangla in March 2015 and was promoted to Assistant Professor in March 2018, later attaining the position of Associate Professor.
Throughout her academic career, she has authored 10 research papers published in various journals. Her research interests include world literature, folk literature, comparative literature, and contemporary literature. Beyond her teaching duties, she serves as an advisor to the Comilla University Writers' Forum, actively involving students in creative pursuits.
She is also an accomplished author with four published short story collections: Olonkar Phool (2017, Bangali Publishing), Yughachari Andharer Galpa (2018, Kothaprakash), Purushpath (2019, Oitijhya), and Bohu Boshonter Dag (2023, Oitijhya).
In recognition of her literary contributions, she has received several prestigious awards, including the "Kali O Kalam Tarun Kabi O Lekhak Puraskar 2018" for Yughachari Andharer Galpa, the "EXIM Bank-Anyadin Humayun Ahmed Sahitya Puraskar 2020" in the emerging literature category for Purushpath, and the "Mohammad Nasiruddin Sahitya Puraskar 2024" for her overall contributions to Bangla.
