Multi-storied educational buildings changed image of rural areas in Rangpur

The buildings of secondary and higher secondary educational institutions constructed by the Directorate of Education Engineering have changed the image of the rural areas of Rangpur.

These high-rise buildings look a lot like a city. That's why students are becoming more focused on education. The people of these areas say that they have never seen such multi-storied buildings in educational institutions.

They had to study sitting on the ground with great difficulty. The infrastructural development of the education sector has come a long way in the present era. However, the quality of education is improving due to the establishment of village-centric multi-storied buildings. Supervising Engineers of Rangpur Circle and Field Level Executive Engineers, Assistant Engineers, Deputy Assistant Engineers of Directorate of Education Engineers are playing a role in the construction of educational institutions under various projects.

In 8 Upazilas of Rangpur, the significant multi-storied buildings have changed the image of the village and transformed it into a city. According to Rangpur Education and Engineering Office sources, under the new 8 government high school construction project across the country, the construction of a 10-storey academic building at a cost of about Tk 23 crore at Kamal Kachna and at the same cost another academic building at Uttam in Rangpur is in progress.

Under the implementation project of 4 new women's polytechnic institutes across the country, about Tk 8 crore 7 lakh is being spent on the construction of the 6-storey academic building of Rangpur Women's Polytechnic Institute. About Tk 7 crore 49 lakh has been spent on the construction of the 6-storey building of its workshop building. Taka 7 crore 31 lakh is being spent on the construction of the 4-storey women's hostel building.

Under the project of setting up 1 technical school and college in 64 districts, the construction work of academic cum workshop building with 5 floors is being implemented in Rangpur Technical School and College at a cost of TK 7 crore 31 lakh.

Construction work of 10-storey academic building is underway in Rangpur for the construction of the regional office of the National University. Pirganj Technical School and College has been implemented at a cost of about Tk 26 crore under the project of establishing 1 technical school and college in 100 Upazilas.

In Pirganj Upazila of Rangpur, the progress of the construction work of 6-storey academic building of Pirganj Government High School at a cost of about TK 7 crore 75 lakh has been completed.


Under the project titled Strengthening the Directorate of Secondary Education and Engineering at the District Office at the Headquarters, the construction of the office of the Executive Engineer at a cost of about Tk 4 crore 38 lakh is in progress. Under the project titled Development of selected private secondary schools, eye catching buildings have been constructed at a cost of around Tk168 crore 40 lakhs in a total of 60 educational institutions, 10 in each parliamentary session.

Under the project titled Upward expansion of selected private secondary schools, 10 to 60 secondary schools have been constructed from the second floor to the fourth floor in each parliamentary constituency. Work progress is 99 percent. Under the 4-storied building construction project for the development of selected madrasas, a total of 36 madrasas with 4-storied academic buildings have been constructed at a cost of Tk 989 crores and 93 lakhs.

Under the project titled Development of selected private colleges with the help of information technology for improving the quality of education, from the financial year 2013-14 at a cost of about Tk 82.84 million including partial work of 36 colleges, from the financial year 2020-21, 5 more at a cost of about Tk 7.5 million. College 4th floor academic building construction work has been implemented. Under the Non-Residential 5th Construction Expansion Project, 4-storey academic buildings have been implemented at a cost of Tk 85 crore in each parliamentary visit on an average of 4 to 5 educational institutions every fiscal year.

Repairs and renovations are implemented in government educational institutions every year as per the demand. From the revenue budget, 3/4 institutions repair and renovation works have been implemented at an average cost of Tk15 lakh per institution every year. Private educational institutions of technical madrasa division 2 to 3 madrasas in each parliamentary constituency at a cost of Tk 10 lakh to Tk 15 lakh repair and renovation work has been implemented.

Under the repair and rehabilitation project of the Madrasa Education Department, repairs and renovation work has been carried out as per the demand in the Technical School and College. The completed academic buildings of each institution have been provided with necessary furniture as per the needs of the classrooms.

Rangpur Education Engineering Directorate Executive Engineer Abul Kalam Mohammad Akhtaruzzaman said that they are ahead in the construction of secondary education engineering in 8 upazilas of like Rangpur across the country. Apart from this, a modern toilet block has been constructed along with the academic building.

As a result, the interest of students towards school will be created and talent and thinking will be created in teaching in a better environment.
