Moulvibazar-2 (Kulaura) Constituency consists of 13 unions and one municipality. Shafiul Alam Chowdhury Nadel, Awami League nominated candidate in the last 12th National Parliament election and the Organizing Secretary of the party's central committee, showed surprise by being elected MP.

Through his victory, Awami League got party MP in Kulaura after 23 years. In this constituency, the former central organizing secretary of Awami League and the candidate of BNP-led Jatiya Oikya Front, Sultan Mohammad Mansur Ahmed became an MP in the 11th National Parliament election. But due to the government's opposition, there was no development in the area during the last 5 years when Sultan Mansur was MP.

Even after the Awami League government was in power for 15 years, the desired development did not happen due to the lack of Awami League parliamentarians in Kulaura. Now that Shafiul Alam Nadel has been elected as MP, ordinary citizens hope that the suffering of the people of Kulaura deprived of development will be eased and there will be visible development. Shafiul Alam Chowdhury Nadel got 73 thousand 528 votes in the last election. The closest challenger is Independent candidate (Truck) Principal AKM Shafi Ahmed Solman Received 15 thousand 168 votes. And Trinamul BNP's candidate for the Golden Scale symbol MM Shaheen got 10 thousand 575 votes.

Talking to The Country Today, MP Shafiul Alam Chowdhury Nadel said that the people of Kulaura, deprived of development, gave me the opportunity to go to the parliament by voting with great enthusiasm. Thanks to all the honorable voters and Kulaura residents for this doing I will devote myself to the overall development of Kulaura.

He said that the development that has taken place in many upazilas of the country has not taken place in Kulaura due to the absence of party MPs. We will increase employment opportunities for the unemployed youth of Kulaura.

We will take strict measures to control drugs to protect the youth. We will build one playground in each of the 13 unions of the upazila. Besides we will take the initiative to start the proposed Sheikh Russell Mini Stadium within the next one year. We have taken some initiatives with the municipal authorities to solve the waterlogging-traffic congestion in the city. Upazila Model Mosque work will be started within two months. Technical training centers will be set up. Textile Vocational Institute will invite tender within two months.

In particular, we will take necessary initiatives to start X-ray machine which is closed due to shortage of doctors in Kulaura Hospital with 50 beds. Bringing uncultivated land under irrigation for agriculture and ensuring irrigation facilities for farmers and development of tourism industry including Asia's largest Hakaluki Haor will be worked on priority basis. Beautiful, I will work to ensure the safety of people in the construction of habitable Kulaura. He also said, 'Bangabandhu's boat is a special gift from leader Sheikh Hasina to the people of Kulaura.

Kulaura Upazila Awami League was united to win the boat. They worked tirelessly to make the boat a symbol of development, progress and prosperity. The people of Kulaura made a revolution by voting by boat.

After Shafiul Alam Chowdhury Nadel was elected as MP, a discussion meeting on free discussion and development possibilities was organized on March 2 in Sharifpur Union bordering the first upazila on his initiative. He said that the remaining 12 unions and municipalities of the upazila will be discussed about the various problems and development possibilities of the people.

Inform the people of Kulaura believe that due to the initiatives of public representatives and administration MPs facing the people, the administration officials will be public oriented and the people will get the various services of the government easily.

It should be noted that Shafiul Alam Chowdhury Nadel has gradually risen to the central politics of Awami League after playing politics in Chhatra League. In 1986, he became the President of Sylhet Government Pilot High School Chhatra League.

Later on while studying at Sylhet Government College and MC College, he became involved in Chhatra League politics. Later he became a member of the Convening Committee of Sylhet District Chhatra League.

In 1993 he became General Secretary of Sylhet District Chhatra League. He became the president in 1997. After that, Nadel became the education affairs secretary of Sylhet metropolis Awami League. After serving from 2004 to 2011, he is currently the organizational secretary of the Central Awami League. Besides, he is serving as the Director of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). Shafiul Alam Chowdhury Nadel's village home located in Koula village of Kulaura Upazila.
