155 Mymensingh-10 (Gafargaon and Pagla) constituency in the upcoming National Assembly elections is the stronghold of Awami League and the organizational strength of Awami League is quite strong. Golandaj family of Gofargaon has continued the winning streak of Awami LeagueAwami League since the nineties.

Since independence, Awami League won seven times, Muslim League, Jatiya Party and BNP once each. Among them, Golandaj family has won 5 national parliament elections and 2 upazila parishad elections since the 1990s. Fahmi Golandaz Babel is the current member of parliament of grassroots voters on the Golandaz family.

It is known that the seat of 155 Mymensingh-10 is under the leadership of former MP late Altaf Hossain Golandaj from the 90s till today and the Awami League base is strong for the Golandaj family. In the past elections, it can be seen that Altaf Hossain Golandaz won the fifth national parliament election in 1991 with half a million votes in the boat symbol of Awami League. Late Altaf Hossain Golandaz MP reclaimed this seat and turned it into a stronghold of Awami League. Altaf Hossain Golandaz of Awami League won by more than 70,000 votes in the 1996 seventh parliamentary election.

Altaf Hossain Golandaz of the Awami League won the 2001 August parliamentary election with over 1 lakh votes in the boat symbol. After the death of Altaf Hossain Golandaj, Fahmi Golandaj Babel MP walked in the path of his father. Having been elected as a member of Parliament twice in a row, he is in the electoral field alone. Fahmi Golandaz of Awami League won the 2014 Tenth National Parliament election with about 2 lakh votes on the Babel boat symbol. Awami League's Fahmi Golandaz Babel won the 11th parliamentary election in 2018 with 300,000 votes. From 1990 to 2018, 5 national parliament elections and 2 upazila parishad elections were won in a total of 7 elections from Golandaj family. General voters do not see any alternative to Fahmi Golandaz Babel in this seat.

It should be noted that in the last 2008 Jatiya Sangsad election, Captain (Retd) Giyas Uddin Ahmed won the nomination of Awami League. Golandaj family had a special role in making the new candidate in Gafargaon politics Captain (Retd) Giyas Uddin Ahmed win the election. The current MP Fahmi Golandaz Babel was elected chairman in the upazila council elections held that year. Fahmi Golandaz Babel, a member of the Golandaz family, was again nominated for a boat in the 2014 parliamentary elections. Fahmi Golandaz was elected Babel MP by getting a record number of votes. Until now, he has single-handedly occupied the electoral fieldofAwamiLeague.
