Mother-in-law stabbed to death by ex son-in-law in Satkhira

Mother-in-law Momena Khatun was stabbed to death by her ex son-in-law Matinur Rahman in Satkhira over a family quarrel. At the same time, Momena's divorced daughter Fatema Khatun was seriously injured by a sharp knife. The incident took place late at night on Friday (July 16) at Chanka Talsari village in Ghona union of Satkhira Sadar upazila.
Ex son-in-law Matinur has been arrested in the incident. Seriously injured Fatema Khatun has been admitted to Satkhira Bushra Hospital for treatment.
Golam Hossain, husband of the deceased Momena Khatun, said his daughter Fatema Khatun was married to Matinur, son of Nesaruddin of Payradanga village in Sadar upazila, 17 years ago. They have a daughter. They were separated a month ago due to family quarrels. Then Fatema Khatun moved to her father's house in Chanka Talsari village. Recently, Matin pressured Fatima to remarry. But Fatema's mother refused to remarry, the two families clashed. Matin came to their house on Friday night.
Realizing the opportunity in the middle of the night, he stabbed Fatema in the stomach with a sharp knife. When tried to stop her, Matin stabbed his ex mother-in-law Momena. Momena later died. On the other hand, Fatima was admitted to Satkhira Bushra Hospital with injuries.
Satkhira Sadar Police Station OC Delwar Hussain said, Momena's body was sent to Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy. The case is being prepared. Momena's son-in-law Matin has been arrested in the incident.
