With the participation of more than 300 artists and photographers, a month-long exhibition titled “Gono Jagoroner Charukala Pradarshani” has started at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in the capital.

Organised by the academy’s Fine Arts Department, the inauguration ceremony of the exhibition was held on Saturday at the National Chitrashala. Director General of Shilpakala Academy Liaquat Ali Lucky was present on the occasion as the chief guest.

In his speech, he said, “Everyone’s participation is essential in cultural progress. Artists, writers as well as public representatives should also come forward to cultural development.”

Fine Arts Department Director Syeda Mahbuba Karim delivered the welcome speech at the event and painter Abdul Mannan delivered a speech as a special guest.

A total of 69 eminent artists of the country are participating in the painting exhibition. 69 paintings are being shown from the art camp titled “Unnayaner Charushilpa” (Development Art). Among the artists who participated in the art camp including Hashem Khan, Farida Zaman, Abul Barak Alvi, Abdul Mannan, Kanak Chanpa Chakma, Mohammad Yunus, Ranjit Das, Mohammad Iqbal, Sheikh Afzal, Shamsuddoha, Kamal Pasha Chowdhury and Chaitanya Mallick.

Besides, a photography show is also being exhibited in the academy. 638 photographs of 214 photographers were submitted in the photography competition titled “Development Bangladesh, Aesthetic Bangladesh”. From there, 235 photos have been selected for the competition and exhibition.

Three prizes will be awarded from selected photographs. The awards will be distributed at the closing ceremony of the month-long exhibition.

“Gono Jagoroner Charukala Pradarshani” will continue till 31 January 2024. The exhibition will run daily from 11:00 am to 7:00pm at National Gallery No. 2, 3 and 4.
