Mob creates malicious attempt to occupy M'bazar Press Club under banner of Anti-discrimination Student Movement

Moulvibazar Correspondent

Why was District Sweschwsebak  League leader Anisul Islam Tushar released from jail? Why are journalists not writing about his bail?

Making such allegations, on Tuesday (July 8.)noon, controversial student coordinator Tanzia Shishir, Samael Rahman, Ehsan Zakaria, Kazi Manzur Ahmed, Ruhul Amin and some others under the banner of the Anti-discrimination Student Movement abused the members of the Press Club by shouting various slogans and breaking the lock and attempted to occupy the Press Club.

At that time, various programs were going on in the Press Club conference hall, including a still image exhibition in memory of the martyrs injured and killed in the July-August riots. Suddenly, the controversial coordinator, Kathipay, gathered in front of the Press Club and started abusing and shouting various slogans.

It is learnt  that, fueled and instigated by the controversial leader Matin Box, a member of the district BNP convening committee, they tried to seize the press club by creating a mob under the banner of the student discrimination movement on the basis of false information. Upon receiving the news, a patrol team of the army and police reached the scene. Before this, the protesters had marched towards the SP office. Many of the media workers whose pictures were used on the banners they used at that time were described as accomplices of tyranny are in hiding as they are accused in the anti-discrimination student-public case. Some of them even escaped from the Moulvibazar press club and created another press club after August 5.

It is  mentioned that BNP's controversial leader Matin Baksh recently threatened to take over the Press Club at an event after being angered by the publication of news against various misdeeds. In view of this, Bakshi Iqbal Ahmed, the convener of the Moulvibazar Press Club's convening committee, filed a GD with the police station.

Meanwhile, upon receiving the news of the incident, the students and people of the anti-discrimination movement and media workers working in the district gathered at the Press Club and strongly condemned the incident of creating a mob by the Kathipay coordinator. Along with this, they warned and appealed to the mainstream media workers and the Press Club not to engage in any controversial conspiracy.
