Unknown miscreants broke the lock of the house of SM Zahid Hossain, Joint Coordinator of NCP Faridpur District Branch and resident of Alipur area in Faridpur town, and wreaked havoc inside the house at midnight. 

SM Zahid Hossain alleged that around 3 AM on the night of 8 July, several miscreants climbed over the boundary wall of his house, entered the second floor, and carried out the attack with the intention to kill him.

According to local sources and the victim’s description, the attackers broke the locks of four to five gates of the house and entered inside. They assumed that Zahid Hossain and his son were sleeping in a specific room. Not finding anyone there, they vandalized various rooms in the house. They even tried to unlock a room from the outside and search inside.

It is known that the miscreants tried to forcibly open the door of Zahid Hossain’s room, but since it was securely locked from inside, they failed. His son’s room was also bolted from inside. It is assumed that by peeking through the curtains, they might have seen Zahid Hossain inside. However, with the sound of the Fajr azan and movement of worshippers from nearby mosques starting, the miscreants fled.

Later, Zahid Hossain came out and saw a wire cutter lying in front of the room’s door, several door locks of the house broken, and household items scattered around. The attackers left behind two pairs of sandals at the scene.

When the matter was reported to the OC of Faridpur Kotwali Police Station, he arrived at the scene, inspected it, and his team collected preliminary evidence.

The police initially believe that this was not an ordinary theft, but rather premeditated. Although no one has been arrested yet in connection with the incident, the investigation is ongoing.
