Mirza Azam elected MP in Jamalpur-3 constituency for 7th times

Awami League's Organizing Secretary Mirza Azam has won the Jamalpur-3 constituency for the seventh time in a row by winning the 12th National Assembly elections.

Mirza Azam was a two-time General Secretary of the Jubo League, a Whip of Parliament and the Minister of State for Textiles and Jute. The number of voters in 3 constituencies of Jamalpur is 5 lakh 1 thousand 819 voters. He got 2 lakh 76 thousand 453 votes in 153 polling stations in this constituency consisting of two upazilas, Melandah-Madarganj.

Mirza Azam was born on 13 September 1962 in Shuknagari village of Madarganj upazila of Jamalpur district in a noble Muslim family. His father Mirza Abul Kashem and mother Mocha. Noorunnahar Begum. Mr. Azam is married and father of two daughters Mirza Afia Azam Api and Mirza Asafia Azam Ami. His wife Dewan Alea Azam is also involved in social development activities. Mirza Azam is an ideal politician. At present, he is serving as the Organizing Secretary of the Bangladesh Awami League Central Committee and the President of the Standing Committee of the Ministry of Textiles and Jute.

He was elected Member of Parliament from Jamalpur-3 (Parliamentary Seat No: 140) on the nomination of Bangladesh Awami League in the 11th National Parliament Elections in 1991, 1996, 2001, 2008, 2014 and 2018. When the BNP government was formed in 2001, he was the Opposition Whip of the National Parliament. And after his own party formed the government in 2008, he served as the ruling party whip. Mirza Azam, basically a politician of Apadamast.

Elected Member of Parliament for 7 consecutive times. He served as a member of the Standing Committee on the Ministry of Food in the 5th Parliament, the Committee on Government Commitments in the 7th Parliament and the Standing Committee on the Ministry of Science, Information and Communication Technology and the Standing Committee on the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Education in the 9th Parliament. . He was sworn in as the Minister of State of the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh under the leadership of Hon'ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on January 12, 2014. On January 13, 2014, took charge of the Ministry of Textiles and Jute.

He is busy day and night with social service and politics. Think about the happiness and sorrow of the people of the area. Beside them. Around Mirza Azam, many development works are going on to fulfill the dreams of the people of Jamalpur district. Mirza Azam has become known not only for development but also for the people of Jamalpur as a scholar. He started his education in 1968 by enrolling in Balijuri Model Primary School.

He passed secondary school in 1978 from Jamalpur Zilla School under Dhaka Education Board. After that, he received his higher secondary degree in 1980 and bachelor's degree in 1983 from Jamalpur Government Ashek Mahmud College. Inspired by the ideals of the father of the nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, he started politics in 1977 while still a high school student. At the same time he got the membership of Bangladesh Chhatra League. Then in 1979 he became the Amusement and Entertainment Secretary of Govt. Ashek Mahmood College Students' Union.

He was elected the vice-president of Jamalpur District Chhatra League in 1981. He became the convener of Jamalpur District Awami Jubo League in 1987. In 1991, Jamalpur District Awami Jubo League President and Jamalpur District Awami League Joint General Secretary was elected. In 1993, he was elected the organizing secretary of the Central Committee of Bangladesh Awami Jubo League. In 1996, he was elected as the general secretary of Jamalpur district branch of Bangladesh Awami League.

He was the General Secretary of Bangladesh Awami Jubo League from 2003 to 2012. During that period, he also served as a member of the Central Executive Committee of Bangladesh Awami League. He has established about half a hundred educational institutions so far. Among them Sheikh Fazilatunnessa University under Jamalpur district, Sheikh Fazilatunnessa Mujib Fisheries College which later took the form of a specialized public university called Bangmata Sheikh Fazilatunnessa Mujib University of Science and Technology. Bangabandhu College, Sheikh Kamal College, Khwaja Shah Sufi Yunus Ali Degree College, Alea Azam College, Mirza Azam Degree College, Abdul Jalil Technical College, Abdul Hai Bachchu Women Technical College are some of them. At that time the Minister of State for Textiles and Jute Mr. Mirza Azam (M.P.) applied to the Hon'ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to establish a specialized public university named Bangmata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib University of Science and Technology at Melandhe in Jamalpur.

Bangmata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib University of Science and Technology is a public university funded by the Government of Bangladesh. It is the 40th public university in Bangladesh and the first science and technology university in Mymensingh division. Following this, the Act to establish Bangmata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib University of Science and Technology in Jamalpur district was passed on 30 January 2017 by the regular cabinet, presided over by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
On the same day, another new public university was approved at Netrakona. Then on 20 November 2017, Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib University of Science and Technology Bill-2017 was unanimously passed in the great national parliament. The university was gazetted on 28 November 2017. The educational program of the established university started from the academic year 2018-2019 and subsequently Sheikh Fazilatunnessa Mujib Fisheries College was accredited as the Fisheries Science Faculty of Bangmata Sheikh Fazilatunnessa Mujib University of Science and Technology by a special order of the Honorable Prime Minister.

Mirza Azam (M.P.) is very keen for proper and balanced development in every area of Bangladesh apart from his constituency. He is trying to improve the quality of life of the people of the country by supporting self-entrepreneurship in education, social activities, health, communication and information and communication technology sectors. Few Awami League leaders can match him in popularity. Always smiling, friendly staff. Always busy with staff. He efficiently keeps the workers in line, solves the problems of the workers and is vocal against the conflicts, divisions, committee trading of Awami League. Mirza Azam's greatest merit is that he is a full-time politician as well as a social worker. 24 hours a day and night he is passionate about politics and people. He proved that he is a good organizer when he was the general secretary of Jubo League, and he also proved his ability as the organizing secretary of Awami League. As the organizational secretary of the Dhaka division, he played an important role in organizing the party and resolving the conflicts in the party. Very few Awami League leaders have achieved the rare privilege of becoming an MP 7 times. But his face is childlike, always smiling. He still looks youthful.

No matter how old he is, no matter how many times he has been an MP, Mirza Azam has not yet been able to claim the title of veteran of Awami League. He is still a symbol of youth in Awami League. And that's why he is very popular within the party. One of the vitality of Awami League is that Mirza Azam's discretion is well understood by the party leaders.

Because of this vitality, he will brighten the future of Awami League. Mirza Azam is undoubtedly one of the leaders of Awami League who will play an important role in strengthening the organization of Awami League. And the greatest quality for Mirza Azam is that he has come out of his childish youth to project an image of an elder Rashbari.
