Millions of people flock to worship Kali Puja on banks of Ichamati River in Sirajdikhan

Like every year, the Kali Puja of the historic Shekharnagar Kali Temple of the Hindu community has begun on the banks of the Ichamati River in Shekharnagar of Sirajdikhan Upazila of Munshiganj on Tuesdsy. Lakhs of people have flocked to the fair on this occasion.The traditional Kali Puja of the followers of Sanatan Dharma has been celebrated in large numbers. Kali Puja has been taking place since 901 AD under the initiative of Shekharnagar Rishi Samiti. Currently, this Kali Puja is more than 530 years old.This puja has started on Tuesday at the premises of Shekharnagar Kali Temple in Shekharnagar Union of Sirajdikhan Upazila of Ichamati Parde district. A festive atmosphere prevails there. Although the puja is for the followers of traditional religion, people of all religions have gathered there.Meanwhile, this Kali Puja on the banks of the Ichamati River in Shekharnagar has taken the form of a universal festival. This traditional worship of the followers of Sanatan Dharma has set an example of non-communalism on Tuesday. Devotees of Kali have come from different parts of Bangladesh to attend the puja. Apart from Bangladesh, saints and monks from India, Sri Lanka and Nepal also gather for this puja. It has become an unprecedented gathering of saints and monks.The main attraction of this puja is the Pathabali. And all the religious followers will gather there to watch the Pathabali. The offering of Pathabali will start from tomorrow, Wednesday morning. This time, more than 2,000 Pathabali will be offered, the authorities said. A huge fair has been set up on the banks of the Ichamati river on the occasion of the puja. More than a hundred stalls have been provided at the fair. As the night progresses, the crowd at the puja and fair premises increases. Lakhs of people gather for this puja.Apart from adults, children also wait for the Kali Mela all year round. For children, there are Nagar Dola, horse races and railway rides. Iron-made knives, axes, chisels, knives, axes, spades and various household items are available. The stalls of the fair are decorated with various furniture made of bamboo and wood, various cottage industry products and cosmetics along with sweets.Shekharnagar UP Chairman Debabrata Sarkar Tutul said, "This 530-year-old fair has been carrying the tradition of this region. Although it is a one-day puja, the fair lasts for about a week. A festive atmosphere is created among people of all religions around the puja.Ratan Chandra Das, president of the Puja Celebration Committee of Shekharnagar Kali Temple, said, "Lakhs of people gather at Kali Puja and fairs. Pathabali will start at Kali Temple from 5 am on Wednesday. The administration has also held several meetings with us to keep the law and order normal."Sirajdikhan Police Station OC Shahed Al Mamun said, "More than 300 law enforcement officers have been deployed for overall security around the Kali Puja fair. CCTV cameras have been installed at various points. He also said that the police administration is on hand to maintain a peaceful environment."
