Melandah Upazila Chairman jailed in sabotage case

Police arrested Engineer Kamruzzaman, former chairman of Melandah Upazila Parishad and vice-president of the Jamalpur District Awami League, in connection with a sabotage case. Kamruzzaman had been in hiding since the mass student and public uprising on August 5.
Confirming the arrest, OC of Melandah Police Station Shafiqul Islam stated that law enforcement had been actively seeking him. On Wednesday at around 2:00 PM, DB police conducted a raid and arrested him from a residence in Kacharipara, Jamalpur.
A sabotage case had previously been filed against him at Melandah Police Station. Following his arrest, Kamruzzaman was presented before the court after completing the necessary legal procedures.Engineer Kamruzzaman was elected Chairman of Melandah Upazila Parishad in 2019 as the nominee of the Awami League.
