Chikondandi Steward Union Sub-Health Center of Hathazari Upazila has become vulnerable.

Medical services are going on in this dilapidated risky building. Every day patients come from far and wide to get medical services.

Cracks have appeared in various parts of the walls of the building. Construction materials are falling from the roof. Medical services are running dangerously in this building with a single-storey roof. And the officials are trying to provide the desired services to the patients risking their lives. Doctors said that the building was declared abandoned long ago. Even then they are providing medical care. In this situation, those who are coming to seek medical care are in dangerous condition. Sometimes the plaster of the ceiling is coming off. Many were narrowly saved. They have to work at risk.

As the medical center is not renovated and a new building is not constructed, the land of the Government Medical Center is being illegally occupied. It is said that the authorities have filed many complaints against these illegal occupants.

There is an old dilapidated house on about 1 acre of 50th century land where medical services are being provided. The rest of the land consists of a pond, a vacant lot in the vicinity, which has been filled in under the leadership of an influential mahal. A charitable medical center was started here in 1942. The owner of the place, Haji Samshul Alam, father, late Bacha Mia, village Chikondandi, donated 1 acre 52nd century land registry in Kobla Mule for medical purposes on 9/4/1976. A doctor and an assistant are providing medical care regularly. Doctors are treating hundreds of patients every day.

It can be seen on the surface, the doctors are providing medical services in a dangerous manner sitting in dilapidated buildings. Shortage of rooms, there is no room for patients to sit. In spite of so many problems, the doctors in charge are providing medical care to the patients.

On this side, when the illegal encroachers forcibly took the fish from the pond, the authorities filed a complaint against the illegal encroachers on 6/10/2005. At that time, Dr. Salauddin Mahmud was in charge as Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer. At present the pond has been filled. The Steward Union sub-health center is beset by various complications.

The present THO Rashmi Chakma made an application on 10/12/2020 to the Assistant Commissioner (Lands) for recovery of illegal occupation. Later on 2/07/2023 he made another application to that officer so that no one can illegally record this land as government valuable BS Khatian (Namjari).

The site of Chikondandi Steward health center adjacent to the highway is very important for the government, but the locals fear that it will be dispossessed due to various complications. Conscious people want the intervention of higher authorities.
