Mango business gains momentum in Porsha

There is a potential for a mango business in Porsha, Naogaon. Mango business has started booming everywhere in this upazila. 

Accordingly, there are mangoes in the mango orchards of the upazila, but even in the markets and markets, only mangoes and mangoes are available. 

In addition to the most cultivated Amrupali, Banana Mango, Barifor in this upazila, various varieties of mangoes including Gopalbhog, Mohanbhog, Langra, Khirsapat, and various varieties of small mangoes have already come to the market. A lot of buying and selling is going on in various shops. Traders, garden owners and workers involved in the mango business are busy removing mangoes from the trees and marketing them. Mango production in this upazila has increased compared to last year. As a result, the economy of this upazila is booming. Mangoes worth around 20-25 lakh taka are being sold every day in hundreds of stalls in the upazila, including Nochnahar intersection, Porsha Aarter intersection, Saraigachi intersection, Nitpur Kapali intersection, Ganguria Bazar, Shisha. And this season has also provided employment to many hard-working people in the upazila. The mango business will continue until July. The economy of the upazila will be somewhat buoyant due to the mango trade. 

Along with this, bank transactions have also increased. Such information has been obtained by talking to local traders. On the spot, various markets in the upazila were visited, and there was a crowd of buyers and sellers at the stalls. Mango business has gathered momentum. Although the mango production and quality of mangoes are a little bad, the harvest is fairly good, so traders expect that mangoes worth several hundred taka will be bought and sold in Porsha this time. Traders from different parts of the country are buying and selling mangoes from here every day. However, traders and garden owners believe that in the future, the mango business or production will leave Chapainawabganj and Rajshahi. They demanded the establishment of a mango research center here to produce more mangoes in this upazila.

Upazila Agriculture Officer, Agriculturist Mamunur Rashid, said that so far, 10,650 hectares of mango orchards have been planted in this upazila. The production target for the current season from the orchards has been set at 1 lakh 45 thousand metric tons. As a result, mangoes worth about 900 and a half taka will be traded. Since the mangoes here are sweet and safe, there is a demand for mangoes in the country and abroad. 

Moreover, he said that the Upazila Agriculture Department is working to produce mangoes by using good modern technology to produce exportable and quality mangoes. However, he hopes to produce more mangoes in the coming years. He also believes that Porsha mangoes have already gained wide recognition and response all over the country.
