Madaripur-1 constituency: 'ship' candidate's complaint, press conference against law enforcement

Kamal Zaman Nur Uddin Molla, an independent candidate for Madaripur-1 (Shibchar) constituency with the 'ship' symbol, has raised allegations about the role of law enforcement during the election.
He made these allegations at a press conference held at his residence in Kandi, Shibray, Shibchar Upazila on Sunday evening.
He claimed that the law enforcement agencies in his constituency had behaved uncooperatively. He also alleged that his leaders and activists were ambushed on election day. He also said that he had not received any cooperation from election officials, adding that the administration had helped a specific group and there was a conspiracy against him from the beginning.
Kamal Zaman Nur Uddin Molla also said that the police administration opposed them and harassed the leaders and activists. He also claimed that there were incidents of voters being diverted on the polling day.
He said,
"Since we are independent candidates, the administration has not cooperated with us in any way. Still, my leaders and activists have patiently tried to deliver a fair and peaceful election."
His supporters and voters were present at the press conference. Former acting president of the Shibchar Upazila branch of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, Yazzem Hossain Roman, and joint convener of the Shibchar Upazila BNP convening committee, Shajahan Molla Saju, and other leaders were present at the time.
After speaking to the media, he cried, then hugged his supporters.
Many present became emotional at this time. He urged everyone to remain calm and also indicated that a complaint would be filed with higher authorities regarding the role of the administration.
He said to the supporters,
"I will be with you as long as I live. You will share everything with me. I did not lose, we were defeated through engineering - the law enforcement agencies must take responsibility for this."
"My supporters voted for me. I failed to protect that vote because of the administration. Engineering was done by the administration."
