Listed extortionist held with arms in Dhaka

Police in a drive arrested an alleged extortionist along with a revolver from Dhaka’s Paltan area on Tuesday.
The arrestee was identified as Nuruzzaman Biplab, 44.
During a press briefing on Wednesday, Talebur Rahman, deputy commissioner of police, a team of police with the help of local people arrested Biplab from Shantinagar area.
Police also seized a revolver from his possession.
Quoting Mahfuz Mir, a local, police said, Biplab demanded money from Mahfuz’s father Lebu Mir and beat him up as he failed to provide extortion money to Biplab.
He was caught by police after being chased by local people.
After primary interrogation, police came to know that Biplab was a listed extortionist in Paltan area and he was involved in demanding extortion from people at gun-point.
