Light of Cumilla spreading in national chess

Nusrat Jahan Alo, daughter of Mohammad Rafiqul Alam of Titas Upazila, 'Rani Hamid' of Alokumilla, Cumilla , is spreading light in national chess.

Cumilla District and Bangladesh Police Female Candidate Master Nushrat Jahan Alo won Champion Hub honor in Begum Laila Alam Fide Rating Women Chess Championship under the patronage of veteran chess player Laila Alam and organized by Bangladesh Chess Federation.

Female Candidate Master Nushrat Jahan Alo won the title by getting seven and a half points in 9 games. Bangladesh Navy's female fide master Wadifa Ahmed runner-up and female candidate master Ahmed Waliza of the same team won the third place in the tie-breaking by scoring 7 points. In the tiebreaking with six and a half points, female candidate master Warsia Khushob was fourth, female candidate master Kazi Zarin Tasnim fifth, Nilava Chowdhury sixth and Tabassum Sadia Shahjahan seventh.

Female candidate master Ishrat Jahan Diba was eighth, female candidate master Jannatul Ferdous ninth, Tasnia Tarannum Orpa tenth and female fide master Zakia Sultana eleventh by scoring six points. Khandkar Anika Mawla, Suraiya Akhtar, Zareen Tasnim, Warisa Haider and Naureen Fatima Toa received special awards respectively.

The ninth or final round of play was held on Monday at the Bangladesh Chess Federation Sports Hall. In the ninth round of games, Nushrat Jahan Alo, Female Candidate Master, Wadifa Ahmed, Neelava Chowdhury, Ishrat Jahan Diba, Warsia Khushbu, Tasnia Tarannum Orpa, Kazi Zarin Tasnim, Rani Hamid, and Tabassum Sadia Shahjahan. Fide Master Najrana Khan defeats Eva. Female Candidate Master Ahmed Waliza drew with Female Candidate Master Jannatul Ferdous and FIDE Master Zakia Sultana drew with Female FIDE Master Tanima Parveen.

Prize distribution ceremony was held at the end of the game. The light of Cumilla is spreading in national chess Begum Laila Alam was present as the chief guest and distributed the prizes among the winners. International female master Rani Hamid, Wazir Alam, Dr. Wasif Alam, Joint Secretary of Bangladesh Chess Federation Masudur Rahman Mallick, two members of the Executive Committee Mrs. Anjuman Ara Aksir, International Organizer Mahmuda Haque Chowdhury Molly and International Chess Judge Md Harun Or Rashid. Chess organizer Arifuzzaman Arif was present. 73 players participated in this event held in 9 round Swiss-League format over 9 days.

The winners were awarded a total cash prize of Rs. The top 9 players in this event will qualify for the finals of the Walton 42nd National Women's Chess Championship. Last time champion women's FIDE Master Noshin Anjum, International Women's Master Rani Hamid and International Women's Master Sharmin Sultana Shireen will play directly.

District Sports Association General Secretary Nazmul Ahasan Farooq Romen congratulated Champion Alo. This small dabaru of ours will bring fame to this district at national and international level.

Titas of Cumilla district, despite being an upazila girl, is standing for the district in all the country's chess competitions. His achievements include several medals. Has the honor of being the champion and runner-up in various age-based chess competitions at the national level.

Shaikh Russel School has been first in the chess tournament three times. He will have my utmost support in his future journey.
