
Life imprisonment in child rape case in Faridpur

In Faridpur city's Guhalakshipur, a 32-year-old man named Saifur Rahman Ujjal has been sentenced to life imprisonment with hard labor and fined one lakh taka for raping an 11-year-old girl. Failure to pay the fine will result in an additional three years of imprisonment with hard labor, as ruled by the court.
On Tuesday afternoon, the verdict was delivered by Judge Shamima Parveen of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal and District Judge Court.
The accused was present in court during the verdict. Following the ruling, the convicted individual was sent to prison under police escort. Saifur Rahman Ujjal is the son of Mahiuddin Sardar, a resident of Guhalakshipur’s Toki Molla Road in the district city.
Public Prosecutor Advocate Golam Rabbani Bhuiyan Ratan of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal confirmed the matter.
According to case details, the victim’s family lived as tenants in Mahiuddin’s house on Toki Molla Road in Guhalakshipur, Faridpur city. On October 21, 2023, the accused, Saifur Rahman Ujjal, the landlord’s son, lured the 11-year-old daughter of the tenant out of the house late at night. He took her to a nearby field, where he raped her after threatening her. The girl fell ill and was admitted to Faridpur Medical College Hospital.
Following the incident, the victim’s father, Md. Rubel, filed a rape case at Kotwali Police Station. After a lengthy process of evidence and testimony, the court delivered this verdict.
