Law, order situation worsens in N'ganj
Staff Correspondent, Narayanganj
Narayanganj is currently witnessing a severe deterioration in law and order. In the past 25 days, bodies have been discovered one after another from different parts of the district. Every day, lives are being lost in heartbreaking incidents — be it murder, accident, or suicide. The grief of losing loved ones has engulfed the entire region in mourning and despair.
According to data from various media sources, from April 7 to May 2 of this year, 30 lives have been tragically lost in just 25 days. This alarming statistic paints a grim picture of the district’s law and order situation and broader social conditions. These 30 deaths in such a short span raise serious questions about the state of security in Narayanganj — one of the country's key industrial zones. Each incident, whether it be suicide, accident, or murder, carries a painful backstory of broken dreams and devastated families. The ongoing stream of fatalities is not just a local crisis — it is a mirror reflecting a broader societal breakdown. Without joint efforts from law enforcement, families, and society at large, halting this procession of death is unlikely. In recent weeks, local newspapers and online portals have been filled with stories of death. From bodies floating ashore on the Shitalakshya River, to road accidents claiming the lives of workers, to suicides driven by despair — the grim headlines just keep coming. These are not just numbers — behind each statistic lies a personal tragedy, shattered aspirations, and endless grief for loved ones. Residents say law enforcement needs to take stronger, more effective action. Alongside this, there’s an urgent need to raise public awareness and address mental health issues. If this tide of death is not stemmed soon, the very fabric of Narayanganj’s society may collapse. Only united efforts from the administration and the community can bring relief to this worsening situation.
