Last 17 years was a dark chapter in people's life : Jamaat Ameer

Tangail Correspondent

Amer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said that every night was a dark night in the life of the people of Bangladesh for the lasr 17 years.

People were imprisoned in prisons, no one could speak openly. Sheikh Hasina wanted to smear it on the nation's forehead as Kalima, the nation has now turned it back on her. He said, on the orders of Sheikh Hasina, the people were killed by the Logi Baitha rampage across the country. Fascists started from there.

He said these while addressing the Chief Guest of the Jamaat meeting with the families of those injured and killed in the Anti-discrimination Student Movement at Shaheed Smriti Municipal Udyon in Tangail town on Monday afternoon.

Amir of Jamaat said that people were imprisoned for 17 years, no one could speak, beggars also had to pay subscriptions, onions worth 30 rupees had to be bought for 300 rupees, father and son were eating together while the son was taken away. His family members were tortured when journalists protested abroad. Every night was a black night for these 17 years.

About the incident of BDR rebellion, he said that 54 military officers were killed in the BDR headquarters at Pilkhana. The female members were tortured, bribed and killed and dumped in drains. The trial of that murder has not been done even today. The army was not allowed to act on this murder. I have seen many young men who got married and went to jail and never came back. The enemies of this country know that Jamaat-e-Islami will break but will not budge.

Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, they killed 11 top local leaders by giving a case to the senior leaders of Jamaat. 42 years against whom there was no GD or case against any police station. 42 years later they were charged with crimes against humanity. One by one the top 11 were taken off our chest with false cases and fabricated witnesses.

He also said that if someone spoke a little against someone, they were arrested and tortured under the Digital Act. Even journalists have been tortured. They made Bangladesh such a model and built highways that could not go by car. You have to leave the country for doing such politics. He divided the nation into sections.

District Jamaat Ameer Ahsan Habib Masud spoke on the occasion, Central Executive Council Member Izzat Ullah, Central Working Council Member Dr. Mao Khalilur Rahman, Tangail City Branch President Mamun Abdullah, Tangail District Student Camp President Anwar Hossain Matiullah and others spoke.

Leaders and activists of Jamaat, members of anti-discrimination movement and family members of the deceased were present at the time.
