Lalmonirhat District BNP protests attacks on MP candidates

The District BNP has held a protest march in Lalmonirhat demanding the immediate arrest and exemplary punishment of the miscreants involved in the attack on candidates for the 13th National Parliament election.
A large number of leaders and activists of the district BNP and its affiliates and associate organizations participated in this protest march organized by the Lalmonirhat District BNP on Saturday noon.
BNP National Executive Committee Organizing Secretary and Lalmonirhat District BNP President Principal Asadul Habib Dulu was present as the chief guest at the protest march. In a brief speech at the end of the march, he said, "A group is carrying out planned attacks and violence to disrupt the 13th National Parliament elections and create an unstable situation in the country. Those involved in these attacks must be brought under the law immediately and exemplary punishment must be ensured."
He also said that it is the government's responsibility to restore an environment for fair, free and impartial elections in the country. Effective steps must be taken now to stop election violence and ensure the people's right to vote.
And protesting the shooting of Dhaka-8 parliamentary candidate Osman Hadi in broad daylight and the attack on Chittagong-8 parliamentary candidate and Chittagong Metropolitan BNP convener Ershad Ullah, he said that the attackers must be brought under the law and given exemplary punishment without delay.
During the protest march, activists arrested the attackers. They raised various slogans demanding an end to election violence and the protection of democracy.
District BNP leaders said that if the election environment is not normal and effective measures are not taken against violence, more stringent programs will be announced in the coming days.
