Hours after successful surgery for the implantation of a pacemaker in her chest, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia was moved to a cabin on Monday afternoon.
The medical board, which has been treating Khaleda, implanted the pacemaker in her chest at the city’s Evercare Hospital on Sunday.
Khaleda was moved from the coronary care unit to a cabin on the advice of the medical board at 4:45 pm, the former prime minister’s personal physician Prof Dr AZM Zahid Hossain told the media.
He said the medical board formed for treatment of the BNP chairperson reviewed her condition and then they took the decision of shifting her to cabin from the post-operative.
Earlier of the day, the medical board, led by Prof Shahabuddin Talukder, held a meeting and reviewed Khaleda Zia’s health condition.
Khaleda’s daughter-in-law Dr Zubaida Rahman, a cardiologist from London and several other specialist doctors from the US, the UK, and Australia joined the meeting virtually.
Dr Zahid said that Khaleda Zia would continue to receive treatment in the cabin under close observation of the medical board.
Prof Zahid, also a vice-chairman of the BNP, further said Khaleda Zia’s health condition remained stable while she also underwent some medical tests after implanting the pacemaker.
