In the organization of Sirajganj Kamarkhand Upazila Health Department and with the technical support of United Nations Population Fund Lamb, Department of Health, a program to announce the liberation of obstetric fistula was held in Kamarkhand Upazila.

On Tuesday at 11:30 am, the Kamarkhand Upazila Parishad Mini Auditorium hall room announced the release of population-related fistula in Kamarkhand Upazila.

Rajshahi Region (Health) Dr. Habibur Rahman, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Deputy Secretary (Education and ICT: Development and Human Resource Management) Md. Raihan Kabir, Rajshahi Region (Health) Dr. Habibur Rahman, District Civil Surgeon Dr. Rampad Roy, Rajshahi Health Department Deputy Assistant Director Shyamal Kumar Roy, Upazila Parishad Chairman SM Shahidullah Sabuj, Upazila Executive Officer Shaheen Sultana, UNFPO Dr. Kaniz Fatima and others were present.

Lamb Project Manager Mahtab Liton gave a welcome speech and presentation, during which the speakers said that more than a thousand patients die due to obstetric fistula every day around the world. Girls become mothers at a young age due to the prevalence of child marriage, especially in rural societies. As a result, the problem of obstetric fistula in the uterus occurs after the baby is born. A mother leads an inhumane life due to fistula. In our society, the families and people of the society look at these mothers with different eyes.

To free Kamarkhand upazila from obstetric fistula, under the supervision of the upazila health department, the United Nations Population Fund and Lamb are doing this work across the country.
