July Martyrs’ Day observed at HSTU

Mahidul Islam Ripon, Dinajpur

“July Martyrs’ Day 2025” was observed with due respect at Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University (HSTU).

As part of the program, a rally was brought out on Wednesday  noon defying the rain, led by Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Shafiqul Islam Sikder and Treasurer Professor Dr. M. Jahangir Kabir.

The rally began in front of the administrative building and ended at the Shaheed Minar premises. Later, floral wreaths were placed at the Shaheed Minar to pay tribute to the memory of the July martyrs. On behalf of Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Enamul Haque, Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Shafiqul Islam Sikder paid homage. Present at the time were Treasurer Professor Dr. M. Jahangir Kabir, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture Professor Dr. Md. Moniruzzaman Bahadur, IQAC Director Agriculturist Professor Dr. Saiful Huda, Registrar Professor Dr. Md. Abu Hasan, Director of Student Counseling and Guidance Division Professor Dr. S.M. Emdadul Hasan, along with various department chairmen, hall superintendents, branch directors, and other faculty members, officers, employees, and students.

In addition, the Officers’ Forum — an organization of pro-nationalist ideology officials — and the Nationalist Employees Council also placed floral wreaths at the Shaheed Minar in tribute to the martyrs.

Following the floral tributes, a message from HSTU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Enamul Haque, given on the occasion, was read out.

The significance and importance of today’s day are immense. Exactly one year ago from today, the throne of a 16-year long autocratic rule was shaken. When the autocrat, attempting to turn our beloved motherland Bangladesh into a vassal state at the will of his foreign masters, indulged in heinous acts of abduction, murder, and imprisoned people in torture cells like the infamous ‘Aynaghar’, and revelled in a bloody game — it was then that unarmed students and citizens, armed with immense courage and unwavering resolve, risked their lives and plunged into a life-and-death struggle. They gave birth to a peaceful and successful revolution, resulting in the downfall of one of history’s most despised dictators. The world had never witnessed such an event before.

Therefore, embracing the noble ideals of sacrifice made by the July martyrs, we must resolutely pledge to build a democratic, welfare-oriented, self-respecting, happy, prosperous, and self-reliant Bangladesh by establishing an egalitarian society based on justice and equality while confronting internal and global challenges. We must remain vigilant to ensure that under no circumstances can the collaborators of autocracy and fascism inflict any harm upon our beloved motherland. At the same time, we must thwart all forms of domestic and international conspiracies and plots and protect the sacred independence and sovereignty of our beloved motherland.

Besides, after Zuhr prayers, a special doa and munajat were held at the central mosque in remembrance of all the martyrs.
