
JU celebrates July Women’s Day

Jahangirnagar University (JU) observed July Women’s Day to commemorate the July-August Uprising, 2025, honoring the pivotal role of women in the movement on Monday.
The event began with a rally at 11:30 am from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities. After marching various roads, the gathering culminated at the Faculty of Social Sciences.
Addressing the event, JU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan said, “In the days of July and August, it was our women who led the way. Across the entire nation, the courage and contributions of women profoundly shaped the July-August movement.”
“The inhumane acts we have witnessed since August 5, including murder and rape were not the reasons why students, teachers, and others rose up in protest during July and August. We will all stand united against the defeated forces,”
he added.
The event was also attended by Pro-Vice-Chancellors Prof. Dr. Mohammad Mahfuzur Rahman (Academic) and Prof. Dr. Sohel Ahmed (Administration), Treasurer Prof Dr. Md. Abdur Rab, hall provosts, proctors, faculty,students and the mother of July martyr Alif.
Student leader Prapti Taposhi moderated the gathering.
