Joypara Bazar Traders Assoc election: President Kuddus, Secretary Aziz

The election of the managing committee of the traditional Joypara Bazar Traders Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited in Dohar, Dhaka was held in a peaceful atmosphere on Monday evening.
President of the election committee, Upazila Cooperative Officer Arifa Banu, announced the results. SM Kuddus was elected as the president and A. Aziz as the general secretary.
It is learnt that SM Kuddus was elected president by getting 500 votes in the election held. His nearest rival Md. Raich Uddin got 441 votes. A. Aziz was elected as the general secretary by getting 538 votes. His nearest rival Md. Sumon got 162 votes.
In addition, Parash Ali was elected as the vice-president with 347 votes, Md. Ibrahim as the joint general secretary with 392 votes and Md. Billal Hossain as the treasurer with 395 votes.
Md. Jalil Mia (396 votes), Obaidul Islam (443 votes), Habibur Rahman (503 votes), Md. Almas Hossain (516 votes), Md. Shahin Bepari (567 votes), Ripon Saha (535 votes) and Md. Mamun Hossain (400 votes) were elected as members.
The total number of voters of Joypara Bazar Traders Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society is 1038. A total of 26 candidates are contesting in the election, including 2 for the post of president, 4 for the post of vice-president, 4 for the post of secretary, 4 for the post of joint secretary, 3 for the post of treasurer and 9 for the post of member.
Earlier, voters exercised their right to vote spontaneously and in a festive atmosphere by standing in long lines in the election that started at 8 am on Monday. The law enforcement agencies had covered the polling station with security since the morning in view of the election.
While talking to voters from the business association, they said that they were very happy to be able to vote in a festive atmosphere after a long time.
