Journalist threatened by PDB official in Ctg

A staff correspondent of Daikin Purbadesh o Monirul Islam Munna has been allegedly threatened by the Chief Engineer of the Distribution South Zone, Mohammad Humayun Kabir Majumder, for publishing news about the Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB).
The threat was made by calling him to the office of the Chief Engineer around 3 pm on Wednesday (November 20).
Monirul Islam Munna filed a GD in this regard at the Double Mooring Police Station on Thursday (November 21) night.
It is learned that on October 31, the Daily Purbadesh newspaper published a news item titled 'Fascist accomplices in the power department are still alive'.
After the news item was published, Engineer Mohammad Humayun Kabir Majumder invited reporter Monirul Islam Munna to the office through Assistant Director (Public Relations) Md. Akbar Hossain. He called him to the office room and threatened to look after him in the future for publishing the news with arrogant behavior.
In this regard, Monirul Islam Munna said, "The chief engineer misbehaved by calling me. If the news goes against me, there can be anger towards the organization or the reporter. It could have been given in the form of a protest letter. But instead of doing that, the chief engineer called me after 20 days to systematically insult me.
OC of Double Mooring Police Station Kazi Md. Rafiq Ahmed said, we have taken a GD. Necessary action will be taken after investigation.
