
Journalist Ranjit Barman gets honour for contribution to environmental education promotion

Ranjit Barman, Shyamnagar correspondent of the newspaper Dikantitude in Satkhira, has been honoured for his contributions to promoting environmental education. The National Green Coalition and the Bangladesh Resource Center for Indigenous Knowledge, Dhaka, jointly presented him with this recognition. On Monday at a grand ceremony held at the Rajshahi Divisional Indigenous Cultural Academy auditorium, the organizing committee awarded him a crest and a certificate. Ranjit Barman has been reporting on environmental and other issues in the media for over two decades. Previously, he received the Divisional Environmental Medal and Environment Friend Medal from the Khulna Department of Environment, the Sundarbans Journalism Award from the Sundarbans Academy, along with several other accolades. On the occasion of receiving this honor, Shyamnagar Upazila Executive Officer Ms. Roni Khatun, President of Shyamnagar Upazila Press Club and fellow journalists, Leaders’ Executive Director Mohan Kumar Mondal, Regional Coordinator of BARSIC Shyamnagar Resource Center Ramkrishna Jowardar, President of Shyamnagar Upazila Anti-Corruption Committee Krishnananda Mukhaji, teachers from Sundarbans Secondary Girls’ School, and others were present.
