Habib Sarwar Azad, Staff Reporter of Dainik Jugantor and Sylhet Bureau Chief of the English daily The Country Today, has made a financial donation for the overall development of the holy shrine of Hazrat Shahjalal (Rh.) in Sylhet.
On Saturday night, he deposited the cash donation into the sealed donation box (deg) of the mazar, which is overseen by the Sylhet district administration. While handing over the contribution, the journalist expressed his full confidence in the local administration’s management and ongoing development initiatives for the shrine, including its adjacent mosque, madrasa, and orphanage.
"The shrines of Hazrat Shahjalal (Rh.) and Hazrat Shahporan (Rh.) are places of deep emotion and profound respect not only for the people of Sylhet but for Muslims across the entire world," Habib Sarwar Azad said. He expressed his gratitude for having the opportunity to contribute to the welfare and convenience of the visiting devotees and spiritual followers according to his means.
Praising the sincerity of the Sylhet district administration in managing the shrine and planning infrastructure upgrades for the mosque, madrasa, and orphanage, the journalist urged devotees, well-wishers, philanthropists, and expatriates to extend their support. He called upon people from all walks of life to channel their donations through the district administration to expedite the overall development works at both the Hazrat Shahjalal (Rh.) and Hazrat Shahporan (Rh.) shrines.
The district administration, mazar authorities, and devotees highly appreciated the journalist's noble gesture. Local residents remarked that the active involvement of media professionals in such religious and social welfare activities sends a highly positive message to society.
Journalists representing various print, electronic, and online media outlets, members of law enforcement agencies, and local dignitaries were present.
