JnU Correspondent

Jagannath University's (JnU) only resident student is Begum Fazilatunnessa Mujeeb Student Hall. The University Chhatra League has demanded to attach 'Bangmata' in the hall's name. This demand was presented at a discussion meeting held on the occasion of the 94th birth anniversary of Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib on Tuesday.

President of JnU BCL, Ibrahim Faraji, said the name of this hall is Begum Fazilatunnessa Mujib Hall. It can't be. She was Bangamata; here the name Begum is inconsistent. This name should be changed to Bangmata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall in all documents and at the main gate by August.

General Secretary of JnU BCL, SM Akhtar Hossain, said that if there was a woman like Bangamata Fazilatunnessa Mujib in every house of the country, there would be no turmoil. He had no greed. He gave courage to Bangabandhu in all his movements and struggles. Bangmata's importance in the independence of Bangladesh is immense.

Professor Dr. Kamaluddin Ahmed, treasurer of the university, spoke as the chief guest on the occasion. In view of the demand of the Chhatra League president, he gave the responsibility to the hall provost to change the name of the hall at that time. He stated that our girls will learn from Bangmata's ideals of life, thinking, and consciousness.

The program was presided over by Provost Prof. Dr. Deepika Rani Sarkar and conducted by Associate Professor Nipa Debnath. Convener Taslima Islam, Assistant Proctor of the University Faruk Hossain, and the students of the hall also spoke in the discussion meeting.
