Md Lavlu Sheikh, Lalmonirhat
In a significant political gathering held on Saturday at the Collectorate Ground in Lalmonirhat, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, emphasized the necessity of two critical steps before upcoming elections: the visible prosecution of the perpetrators of fascist violence and the implementation of essential electoral reforms to ensure public trust in the electoral process.
Addressing a massive public rally as the chief guest, Dr. Rahman stated, "We seek free and fair elections, not those influenced by black money and muscle power. So , a level playing field must be created for the elections."
He also advocated for peaceful and respectful relations with neighboring India, asserting that mutual prosperity is essential: "If we are well, they will be well too. If our well-being is compromised, India must consider whether they will remain well."
Dr. Rahman condemned ongoing issues such as extortion and land grabbing, urging collective action against these injustices. He assured that under Jamaat-e-Islami's governance, women's honor, safety, and employment opportunities would be prioritized.
Highlighting the importance of regional development, he pledged to implement the Teesta Master Plan and take various initiatives to enhance infrastructure and services in Lalmonirhat.
The rally, presided over by Adv Abu Taher, Ameer of Lalmonirhat District Jamaat-e-Islami, featured speeches from central and local leaders. Prior to the event, party workers and supporters from various upazilas and neighboring districts arrived in processions, creating a festive atmosphere.
In his address, Dr. Rahman criticized the current government's actions, stating, "Even after abductions and imprisonments, the people of Bangladesh could not be subdued. The Awami League fled the country under pressure from the movement. They do not love the country. Just as Allah removed Pharaoh, in the same way, the Awami League will be removed."
He also reaffirmed Jamaat-e-Islami's commitment to an inclusive society, emphasizing that no citizen, regardless of religion, should be marginalized. He assured the Hindu community of Jamaat's support, stating, "We will stand by you, and this time, you will vote for Jamaat."
Dr. Rahman concluded by urging the public to support Jamaat-e-Islami in building an equitable and just Bangladesh.
The event also included a tribute to the late BSF martyr Hasibul Alam, with Dr. Rahman visiting his family to express condolences.
The rally was organized across four venues: the main Collectorate Ground, Railway Sufia Khatun Girls' High School Ground, Majida Khatun College Ground, and the Railway Sufia Khatun Girls' High School Ground. The Majida Khatun College Ground was specifically designated for female attendees, who filled the venue to capacity.
The event was meticulously coordinated, with law enforcement maintaining a strong presence to ensure security.
This rally marks a significant moment in Bangladesh's political landscape, as Jamaat-e-Islami continues to advocate for justice, electoral integrity, and social reforms.
