Jamaat wins three seats, BNP two in Pabna

According to unofficial results, Jamaat-e-Islami candidates have won three seats in Pabna. BNP-nominated candidates have won the remaining two. This information was revealed from the results announced by District Returning Officer and Deputy Commissioner Shahed Mustafa in the early hours of Thursday.
The winners of Jamaat-e-Islami are Barrister Nazibur Rahman Momen in Pabna-1 constituency, Ali Asgar in Pabna-3 and Abu Taleb Mandal in Pabna-4 constituency. On the other hand, the winners of BNP are KM Selim Reza Habib in Pabna-2 constituency and Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas in Pabna-5 constituency.
According to the Returning Officer's office, Barrister Nazibur Rahman Momen, son of Jamaat's late Ameer Maulana Matiur Rahman Nizami, won the Pabna-1 constituency in Pabna's Santhia upazila by getting 128,467 votes. On the other hand, his closest rival, BNP-nominated Paddy Sheesh candidate Shamsur Rahman, got 133,663 votes. Former BNP MP KM Selim Reza Habib won the Pabna-2 constituency, consisting of Sujanagar and Bera upazilas, by getting 215,406 votes.
His rival, Jamaat candidate Hesab Uddin, got 77,242 votes. A total of 8 candidates contested in the Pabna-3 constituency comprising Chatmohar, Bhangura and Faridpur upazilas. Out of these, Jamaat-e-Islami's Ali Asghar won by getting 147,475 votes in the unofficial results. His nearest rival, BNP's Hasan Zafir Tuhin, got 144,206 votes.
District Jamaat Ameer Abu Taleb Mandal won the Pabna-4 constituency with Ishwardi and Atgharia by getting 137,675 votes. His nearest rival Habibur Rahman Habib of BNP got 133,874 votes. BNP's Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas won the Pabna-5 constituency with Sadar Upazila by getting 181,925 votes. His nearest rival Iqbal Hussain of Jamaat-e-Islami got 164,994 votes.
