A Dhaka court Thursday placed two people including the son of Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami on a one-day fresh remand in a case lodged under Anti-Terrorism Act with capital's Jatrabari Police Station, BSS reports.

The two remanded accused are- Rafat Sadik Saifullah, son of Jamaat Ameer Dr Md Shafikur Rahman, and Arif Fahim Siddiqui.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shafi Uddin passed the order as police produced the duo before the court after end of their two-day remand in the case and pleaded to place them on three-day fresh remand. The defence however, pleaded for scraping the remand plea and granting them bail.
It is the third time, that duo have been taken on remand in the case. Earlier on November 10, the court had placed them three-day remand, while they were again placed on another two-day remand on November 14.

According to the police, Rafat is a top leader of banned militant outfit Ansar Al Islam's Sylhet chapter and used to run jihadi activities there for long. Police recently arrested three militants from capital's Jatrabari area and while interrogating the three, they took name of Rahat as one of their leaders.
