
Jahangir Kabir attends sister's funeral after being released on parole

Barguna District Awami League General Secretary and former Zilla Parishad Chairman Jahangir Kabir attended his sister's funeral after being released on a two-hour parole.
He was released on parole from 12 noon to 2 am on Friday by District Magistrate and Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Shafiul Alam.
Jahangir Kabir's elder sister Anwara Begum (84) died early on Friday due to old age.
Jahangir Kabir was arrested in a joint operation by the PBI and Barguna Police Station from his residence on Amtala Road in the city at around 5:45 am on August 14. Later, he was sent to jail through the court in an extortion case filed by former Sadar Upazila BNP General Secretary Harun-or Rashid Howlader.
The Awami League leader spoke to former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on the phone on August 12. The three-minute phone conversation went viral on social media, Facebook. On August 10, under his leadership, a protest rally was held in the city by the district Awami League in favor of Sheikh Hasina.
