Irregularities in preparation of fertilizer dealers' appointment list in Tanore alleged

There have been allegations of irregularities, corruption and unlawful influence in the fertilizer dealer recruitment process in Tanore upazila of Rajshahi.
The applicants have demanded an investigation to complete the recruitment process on the basis of transparency. Meanwhile, Upazila BNP convener Akheruzzaman Hannan has recommended taking necessary measures after the investigation.
It is learned that a total of nine fertilizer dealers will be appointed in two municipalities and seven unions (UPs) of the upazila. For this, it has been said that three names of applicants will be sent from each municipality and UP after verification and selection. The Upazila Fertilizer and Seed Monitoring Committee will send the list after verification. But there have been allegations of irregularities in sending the list to Tanore. Local sources said that Abdur Rahim, son of Anisur Rahman of Bhawanipur village of Kamargaon Union (UP) of the upazila, is an Awami ideologue. There is a pesticide shop in Madaripur Bazar named Messrs. Rahmania Traders.
On September 30, 2024, a case of sabotage was filed at Tanore Police Station, whose case number is 11/20/24. Abdur Rahim is the 53rd accused in the case. However, his name has been sent for the appointment of fertilizer dealers. However, the policy states that criminal offenders will be ineligible for appointment as fertilizer dealers and will not be able to apply. Meanwhile, an applicant has filed a written complaint against him and sent a copy of the complaint by post to the Minister of Agriculture, State Minister, Secretary of the Ministry, Director General of the Department of Agricultural Extension, Rajshahi Divisional Commissioner, Deputy Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension and UNO.

g made to appoint Abdur Rahim as a fertilizer dealer in collusion with Upazila Agriculture Officer Saifullah Ahmed and some BNP leaders. The complaint mentions that irregularities in the appointment of dealers due to irregularities of some officials, influence and recommendations of some political figures may create anger.
