BNP will not accept if the Liberation War is denied in the name of reforms, said Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku, a member of the party's standing committee.

He said this while addressing the BNP's general meeting in Pabna as the chief guest demanding keeping the prices of daily necessities at a tolerable level, improving the law and order situation and announcing a quick electoral roadmap on Tuesday.

Pointing to Jamaat-e-Islami, Iqbal Hasan Mahmud said, "People know what a party that opposed the Liberation War did in 1971. They did not apologize for their actions. Now they are conspiring against BNP in the name of reforms.

Calling on the government to quickly announce the roadmap for the national elections, he said, "The job of the interim government is to hold national elections, not their job to hold local elections. Local elections will not be allowed to create instability in the country before the national elections. The elected government will make reforms. All the proposals for reforms have been given in BNP's 31-point reform." Bangladesh has been independent once. But it has been free from hyenas many times. If necessary, BNP will take to the streets again with the people.

In recent speeches, in response to the announcement of Sheikh Hasina's return to the country, Iqbal Hasan Mahmud said that the people will bring Sheikh Hasina back to the country from India to hang her on the gallows. Bangladesh expects friendly behavior from India as a neighbor, and to stop unwanted interference in Bangladesh by eliminating the mentality of the Morolgiri.

The rally, chaired by District BNP Convener Habibur Rahman Habib, was further addressed by Organizing Secretary Shahin Shawkat, Krishak Dal President Hasan Zafir Tuhin, BNP Chairperson's Special Assistant Labor Leader Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas and local leaders. Later, artists from the nationalist socio-cultural organization JASAS participated in the cultural program.

Leaders and activists from different upazilas of the district gathered at the Government Edward College premises. The party's leaders and activists expressed joy at being able to join this huge rally after a long time.
