International Day for Disaster Reduction was celebrated in Baliadangi, Thakurgaon. Keeping in mind the theme of the year "Prevent Disasters with Integrated Initiatives", a rally was organized by the upazila administration on Monday at 11 am from the Upazila Parishad premises. The rally passed through various streets of the city and ended at the same place. Later, a discussion meeting was held there.
The meeting was presided over by UNO Mofizur Rahman, and was attended by Upazila Agriculture Officer Tamanna Ferdous, Upazila Project Implementation Officer Samiel Mardi, Upazila Social Service Officer Shariful Islam, Baliadangi Fire Service Station OC Shafiul Islam, and journalists from print and electronic media.
After the discussion, Baliadangi Fire Service organized a drill titled "What to do in dealing with natural disasters". During the exercise, they demonstrated various fire safety techniques to protect against fire accidents.
