The International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction was observed in Gaibandha on Monday with colourful rallies, discussions, and awareness programs on earthquake and fire safety.
A discussion meeting and demonstration were held at the local Islamia High School field.
Deputy Commissioner Chowdhury Moazzem Ahmad attended the event as the chief guest. This year’s theme of the day was “Working Together for Disaster Prevention.” The program was organized by the District Administration.
Among others, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Yadav Sarkar, Deputy Assistant Director of Fire Service Md. Mahmudul Hasan, District Relief and Rehabilitation Officer Md. Shafiqul Islam, Sadar Upazila Project Implementation Officer Riazul Islam Riaz, NGO representative and journalist Aftab Hossain also spoke.
