Barrister Kaiser Kamal, Law Secretary of Kadriya BNP, has constructed a wooden bridge approximately 800 meters long over the Samshwari River in Durgapur, Netrakona, to ease public hardship.
The bridge was formally inaugurated on Saturday noon, with students from various educational institutions attending the ceremony.
Locals said that for a long time, the absence of a bridge had made river crossings in the Shibganj–Dugarpur area very difficult. Considering the overall situation of the area, Barrister Kaiser Kamal constructed the bridge using bamboo and wood at an approximate cost of one and a half lakh taka, suitable for rickshaws, vans, private cars, and motorcycles. He announced that a small toll will be collected for vehicle crossings, and all revenue will be used for the development of local mosques, madrassas, and various educational institutions. Our demand is that when he is elected MP, he will construct a permanent bridge over this river.
During the bridge inauguration, the recitation of the Holy Quran and prayers were conducted by Mufti Maulana Abdur Rab. Among others present were the Upazila BNP Vice President, distinguished educator Advocate M. A. Zinnah, Upazila BNP General Secretary Abdul Awal, former BNP Vice President Rawshan Ali, members of the bridge committee Pravat Saha, Pankaj Sangma, Kullagar Union BNP President Shajahan Kabir Sarkar, General Secretary Shah Alam, BNP and its allied organization representatives, and other members of the bridge committee.
Child student Tasfia Israt said that due to the lack of a bridge over the river, we faced difficulties almost every day. Considering the situation of students and the general public, Barrister Kaiser Kamal has constructed a wooden bridge, for which we are grateful to him. Our only demand from him is that when he is elected MP, he will construct a permanent bridge over the Samshwari River.
