Indian youth shot dead by BSF along Lalmonirhat border

Indian Border Security Force BSF allegedly shot to death an Indian youth at Patgram border in Lalmonirhat district on Thursday, thinking that he was a Bangladeshi smuggler.
The incident took place around 3 am in 169 BSF Battalion Mirappa camp area inside India near Kalirhat BOP under Patgram upazila.
However, the detail identity of the youth could not be known immediately.
The information was confirmed by BGB.
BGB said Indian smugglers were smuggling cows from India in a special way over the barbed wire fence through Kalirhat border. At that time, the patrolling members of Mirappa BSF camp in India opened fire thinking that it was 'Bangladeshi cow smuggling group' and the unidentified Indian youth was shot and died on the spot.
61 BGB Teesta Battalion-2 Kalirhat BGB Camp Commander Subedar Abdul Quddus said that the body of the Indian youth is lying on the border area. The matter has been reported to BSF. They are taking necessary measures. In the incident, a decision has been taken to hold a flag meeting at the border.
