Independence and National Day was celebrated in Kalia with due solemnity and enthusiasm.
The celebrations took place on Wednesday at the initiative of the Upazila administration, featuring a series of programs throughout the day.
The events began at 5:00 AM with the placing of floral wreaths at the Freedom Fighters’ Memorial. This was followed by the hoisting of the national flag, a reception for freedom fighters, a discussion meeting, a parade, and a prize distribution ceremony.
The event was presided over by Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Rasheduzzaman. Distinguished guests included Kalia Circle Officer Kishore Roy, Kalia Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Rashidul Islam, Naragati Police Station Officer-in-Charge Shariful Islam, Upazila Fisheries Officer Md. Raihan, Upazila Engineering Officer Pranab Kanti Bal, Upazila ICT Officer Prosfut Mondal, and Upazila Secondary Education Officer Shahajan Miah. Political leaders, including Upazila BNP President Sardar Anwar Hossain, General Secretary S.M. Wahiduzzaman Milu, and Municipal BNP General Secretary Selim Reza Yusuf, were also present.
Freedom fighters, journalists, and people from various walks of life participated in the event, making the celebration a vibrant and memorable occasion.
