Independence Day celebrated at JU

The authorities of Jahangirnagar University (JU) on Sunday observed the 53rd independence Day with due respect to the martyrs of the Great War of Liberation in a befitting manner on the campus.

JU Vice Chancellor Prof Nurul Alam paid homage to the martyrs of the Liberation War by placing floral wreaths at the National Mausoleum around 7.30 am.

Pro-VC (Admin ) Prof Sheikh Md. Monzurul Huq, Treasurer Rasheda Akhtar, Registrar (Contractual) Rahima Kaneez, Deans of different Faculties, Provosts of different dormitories, teachers, students and officials accompanied him in placing wreaths among others.

Later, Jahangirnagar University Teachers' Association (JUTA), Bangabandhu Shikkok Parishad, Jahangirnagar University Journalists' Association (JUJA), JU Officers’ Association, the leaders of different student organization and different socio-cultural organizations also placed wreaths.

Marking the independence day, the university authorities organized different programmes on the campus.

At sunrise, the national flag and the university flag were hoisted at the administrative buildings of the university.

Entire campus has been illuminated with colorful lights marking the day.
