Without any notice, the Roads and Highways Department of Naogaon district conducted an eviction drive on Tuesday (February 4). It made the patrol pump owners enraged and they went for the strike, the notice said.
Azizur Rahman, the president of the Northern Bangladesh Tank Lorry Workers' Union, alleged during a brifing to media that on January 29, the Roads and Highways Department, claiming ownership of the land, inspected several petrol pumps in northern Bangladesh without prior notice, declared them 'illegal' through public announcements, and demolished several pumps.
